After my recent playthrough of MiSide, I found myself wanting more yanderes in my life. Luckily, AI2U: With You ‘Til The End is coming to early access on Steam later this month, so I figured it’s the perfect time to dive into the demo.
AI2U evolved from a 2023 demo project called Yandere AI Girlfriend Simulator on itch.io. Following strong community support, the updated AI2U entered open beta – featuring three unique locations and yandere girlfriends to choose from. Utilizing ChatGPT to bring its characters to life, the original Yandere AI required players to use their own OpenAI API key. However, AI2U simplifies this by offering complete access via single purchase.
AI2U: With You ‘Til The End Demo Gameplay
The demo allows players to experience 2 hours of Level 1. This level features Eddie, your self-proclaimed “cute cat girlfriend.” After waking up in Eddie’s apartment with amnesia, something doesn’t feel right. And your girlfriend really doesn’t want you to go outside.
The goal of the game is to leave the apartment without getting murdered by Eddie first. To achieve this, you’ll need to persuade her that it is both safe and necessary for you to do so. AI2U features the integration of both text- and microphone-based chatting to communicate with Eddie. So you can choose whichever best suits your playstyle.

Your AI-powered yandere is smart enough to understand most anything you want to communicate and will even remember a previous conversation if you circle back to it. She gets irritated if you push past her, and she feels dejected if you leave her in another room to play on the computer (rightfully so). Though her contextual knowledge is lacking, Eddie has intuitive responses for almost everything you do or say.
Despite Eddie’s vibrant personality and intuitive responses, there aren’t many tasks available in the demo. Eddie wants to bake with you, but the stove is broken. And if you’re able to crack the code to her computer, you won’t be able to interact with all of the available websites. These features will most likely be available later on, so the demo mainly relies on dialogue to push the story along.

Final Thoughts: I Love My Yandere Girlfriend
AI2U’s demo succeeds in creating meaningful interactions with a cute cat girl, though future iterations could benefit from more sophisticated contextual awareness to avoid repetitive or impossible suggestions and a deeper integration between conversation and actual interactive elements. Overall, it was a unique experience that effectively utilizes the adaptability and somewhat creepy aspects of AI. I’m looking forward to early access and beyond to find new ways to escape my girlfriend.
